In April each year, the AutoItalia concours of Italian cars is held in Canberra. The event includes a cocktail party and dinner on Saturday night, followed by the concours on Sunday. MOCA has a strong relationship with the organizers of AutoItalia, and arranges a scenic drive from Melbourne to co-ordinate with the event. This includes an overnight stop en route for a members’ dinner, and a different return route on Monday also with optional overnight stop and dinner.
Typically we leave on Friday morning for Albury, for a group dinner and overnight stay. On Saturday, we drive on to Canberra with a lunch stop at Jugiong, and stay at the Hyatt Canberra. Saturday night is the AutoItalia cocktail party and dinner at the National Museum of Australia, followed on Sunday by the AutoItalia concours. This is followed by a farewell dinner at the Hyatt, leaving the next day for Melbourne – either direct or with an overnight stay in Lakes Entrance. Photos from the most recent AutoItalia are in the gallery.
