Raids

MOCA aims to hold a Raid every quarter. These events are an opportunity for members to meet at a starting point, then drive their cars to a scenic location – often with a way-stop at some interesting spot – and then enjoy a great lunch with fellow members.

Raid are organised by our Social Director, who has a knack for finding some great driving roads and special destinations – and for choosing sunny days.

Each year we have one Charity Raid, to support a worthwhile charity nominated by our members.

Photos from recent Raids are shown in the Gallery.

Summer Raid to Hanging Rock

The Summer Raid will be held on Sunday, 5 February 2023 at Hanging Rock picnic reserve.

We will start the day with coffee and pastries at Lorbek Luxury Cars at 30 Prohasky Street, Port Melbourne – 8.30 a.m. arrival and 9.30 a.m. departure. Thanks again to Srecko and David Lorbek for their generosity in hosting us at their fabulous dealership.

Travel from Lorbek via the Bolte Bridge onto the Tullamarine Freeway past the airport and heading through Bulla toward Romsey. At Romsey, turn left and proceed along the Romsey-Woodend Road toward Hesketh. The Hanging Rock racecourse and picnic reserve is well signposted on your right-hand side. We plan to arrive around 10.30 a.m.

It is a good idea to bring folding chairs/table, and all food and drinks. We have reserved the petanque shelter, which has two electric barbecues and seating for eight, plus nearby bench seating and shaded areas. A fee of $10 per car is payable on leaving the reserve, with tickets purchased at the cafe vending machine.

If a total fire ban is declared for Sunday 5 February, the reserve will be closed and we will postpone the Raid to another date.
